Main Contractor:

System:
Bespoke secret fix soffits

Xscape is Scotland’s first indoor ski dome and the third of its type in the UK, it has a unique and challenging design that has attracted interest from far and wide.

The 375,000 square metre, £70m building at Braehead, near Glasgow features a 200 metre long ski slope and also includes a cinema, retail outlets and restaurants.

A major design feature is the purple ‘picture frame’ set into the side elevation fabricated by Sotech as special soffits (using interlocking wall planks) and which incorporate a unique ‘secret fix’ system. Optima cassette rainscreen is used for the sides of the ‘picture frame’.

A special three-coat paint system was used on the 2000m2 of pre-coated PvDF aluminium to match the Xscape corporate colours.
